Thai green papaya salad, which in Thailand is known as as "Som Tam". is one of the most commonly available and most popularly consumed dishes in all of Thailand. This salad gives you a flavor explosion with the hot thai chili, the salty fish sause and the sour lime juice.
Ingredients
- 1 x green papaya
- 1 x carrot
- 6 x green beans
- 5 clove garlic
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- 10 x cherry tomatoes
- 4 tbsp fish sauce
- 2 x thai chili
- 5 tbsp lime
Method
- Peel the papaya, and cut it in half. Remover the inner seeds, and use a papaya slicer or a mandolin to cut thin slices. Do the same with the carrots, and add it to a bowl.
- Once the papaya prep is taken care of, the rest of the salad is a breeze to make. I start by pounding fresh thai chiles, garlic, in a morter. Before adding softened brown sugar and fish sause. Next, I add long beans and cherry tomatoes, crushing them slightly just to bruise them and release juices.
- Then squeeze over lime juice and add it to the salad before you combine everything. Feel free to place it in the fridge until you want to serve it, as it is best slightly cold. Can be topped with peanuts.
