Crushed Cosmo Mocktail

This is a non alcoholic version of the classic cocktail Cosmopolitan. It's one of my favorite mocktails, so refreshing and perfectly balanced between sweet and sour. Every taste is different. Adjust the sweet/sour taste to your liking by increase/decrease simple syrup/lemon juice. You will need one old fashioned glass. Garnish with an orange twist. You need both ice cubes and crushed ice for this recipe. Read step one in the instructions for more information about the ingredients.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cl orange syrup
  • 1 ½ cl simple sirup
  • 1 ½ cl lemon juice
  • 6 cl cranberry juice
  • 4 cl freshly squeezed orange juice

Method

  1. Simple syrup can easily be made at home by adding half and half of water/sugar to a pot, bring to boil, and let boil until the sugar is dissolved. Let cool completely before use. 100 g water and 100 g sugar will give about 1 dl simple syrup. Use freshly squeezed orange juice and lemon juice. If you don’t have a cocktail shaker you can use a large glass jar with a lid. Use whole ice cubes when shaking the mocktail and crushed ice for the glass. Orange twist can be made by cutting off a long strip of orange peel and then twist it like a spiral. I use orange syrup fram the brand Monin but any orange syrup can be used.
  2. Add all ingredients except crushed ice and cranberry juice to a shaker with ice cubes. Shake for 30 seconds and strain into a old fashioned glass with filled with crushed ice. Top off the glass with cranberry juice, 4-8 cl. Garnish with an orange twist.
