Flapjacks are a type of snack bar made mainly with oatmeal, syrup, butter and sugar. You can vary with different berries, dried fruit, nuts or chocolate and are incredibly delicious to have lying around when you have a sweet tooth. It is also perfect as a hiking snack.
Ingredients
- 85 g butter
- 90 g brown sugar
- 50 g light syrup
- 1 pinch salt
- 200 g oats
- 50 g white chocolate
- 75 g frozen raspberries
Method
- Heat oven to 180 degrees fan.
- Put the butter, brown sugar, syrup and salt in a saucepan and bring to the boil while stirring. Remove the plate and cool the mixture slightly. Fold in oatmeal, raspberries and coarsely chopped white chocolate.
- Tip the mixture into a lined baking tin. Press down and out at the edges to make an even layer. Place the tin in the oven and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden. Cool before cutting into squares. Store in an air-tight box and they will stay chewy and delicious!
