Fish Gratin with Salmon and Cheese

Ingredients

  • 100 g macaroni
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp plain white flour
  • 1 dl dry white wine
  • 2 dl milk
  • 1 x egg white
  • 1 handful grated cheese
  • 2 x salmon fillet
  • 1 x carrot
  • ½ x lemon

Method

  1. Prepare the macaroni as directed on the package.
  2. Make the sauce. Melt the butter to a saucepan and add the flour. Let it cook a bit before adding dry white wine. (You can omit the wine if you don't have it, but it adds a very good flavor to the fish gratin.) You can replace the wine with an equal amount of milk.
  3. Add milk. Stir until you have a lump-free sauce. Season with salt and pepper, and add grated cheese.
  4. Add egg whites to a bowl and whip until ut has become fluffy. You can use the yolk in another recipe, e.g. "Gluten-free cookie for one".
  5. Dice the salmon fillet into pieces and place them to the bowl of egg white. Add the sauce and ready-cooked macaroni. Combine.
  6. Grease an ovenproof dish with butter, and add fish batter to the dish. Top with grated cheese and bake at 200 degrees celsius for 30 minutes.
  7. Grate carrot and top with lemon juice. Serve as soon as the gratin is ready.
