Donuts with red orange glaze

Not only are these donuts airy, soft and super tasty. The red orange glaze gives them an extra good and fresh taste!

Ingredients

  • 400 g wheat flour
  • 60 g sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 tsp dry yeast
  • 1 x eggs
  • 1 x egg yolk
  • 180 g milk
  • 65 g room temperature butter
  • 1 l neutral oil

    Red Orange glaze:

  • 100 g icing sugar
  • 1 tsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp red orange juice

Method

  1. Put flour, sugar, salt and dry yeast in a mixing bowl and start mixing at low speed. Whisk together the eggs and milk and add to the baking bowl together with the dry ingredient. Knead the dough at low speed for 10 minutes until the dough comes together.
  2. Add the soft butter a little by little, and knead the dough at low-medium speed for 10 minutes, until the dough is smooth and elastic. Let the dough rise for 60–90 minutes, until it has doubled in size.
  3. Red orange glaze: Mix the icing sugar with red orange juice and lemon. Adjust if necessary with more orange juice or icing sugar until the glaze is thin enough, but not too runny. Refrigerate until ready to use.
  4. When the dough has doubled in size, pour it out on the counter, divide it into 12 pieces and roll them into balls. Make small squares of baking paper that are slightly larger than the buns and place them on a tray, with the dough buns on top. Let them rest for 30–45 minutes. Then use a cookie cutter to make a hole in the center of each bun.
  5. Heat the oil to 175 C and fry the donuts for 1½–2 minutes on each side. (Put the buns in the oil with the paper, then pull the paper off). Put the donuts on a wire rack and cool them a little before you dip them in the glaze!
