In my opinion Smashburger are the best, and at the same time easiest and fastest burger to make, since the meat is smashed directly in the pan! Feel free to double up with the beef patties, extra cheese and whatever vegetables you want! (Ps: feel free to check out my recipe for homemade burger buns)
Ingredients
- 3 tbsp mayonnaise
- 1 tbsp yellow mustard
- 2 tbsp ketchup
- 1 tbsp chopped yellow onion
- 1 tbsp chopped sweet pickles
- ¼ tsp garlic powder
- ¼ tsp smoked paprika powder
Burger sauce:
- 350 g ground beef
- ½ x yellow onion
- 4 slices american cheese
- ¼ x iceberg lettuce
- 2 x burger buns
Burger:
Method
- Burger sauce: Mix all the ingredients in a bowl
- Divide the ground beef into four equal-sized balls of 80 g each. Preferably bring them to room temperature for about 30 minutes before you fry them. Peel and finely chop the onion.
- Fry the onion in a little oil until golden, and set aside. Place the meatballs on a hot baking tray and press them flat with a small pot or something similar. (Use some baking paper in between so it doesn't stick) Season with salt and pepper and cook for 1–2 minutes, until the meat has a nice crust, and turn them over. Add the cheese and caramelised onion and cook for a further 1–2 minutes, until the cheese has melted.
- Then it's just a matter of shredding some lettuce and whatever other vegetables you want, putting the hamburger together and enjoy!
