Lettuce Wraps with Asian Meatballs and Hoisin Sauce


  • ½ clove garlic
  • 1 x spring onion
  • ¼ x red chili
  • 200 g minced meat
  • ½ tbsp hoisin sauce
  • ½ tbsp soy sauce
  • ¼ x lime
  • 50 g cabbage
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds


  1. Mince the garlic, the white part of the spring onion and chili and add to a bowl together with the minced meat, hoisin sauce, soy sauce and lime juice. Mix well.
  2. Shape the dough into meatballs and fry in a pan. Once they have a nice brown crust, transfer to the oven and bake at 200 degrees for about 10 minutes or until they're properly cooked.
  3. Toast sesame seeds in a dry pan until golden. Watch them carefully - this only takes a few minutes!
  4. Wash and pat the cabbage leaves dry. Place the meatballs in the leaves and top with chopped spring onions, toasted seeds and extra chili if desired. Serve with hoisin sauce.
