Ingredients
- 3 ½ dl milk
- 50 g yeast
- 700 g plain white flour
- 1 x eggs
- 50 g garlic butter
- 120 g butter
- 4 clove garlic
- 2 handful leaf parsley
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 150 g butter
- 1 x mont d'or cheese
- 2 tsp salt
Method
- Find the kitchen machine or the kneading muscles and get yourself a real workout!
- Add milk and yeast to the bowl and stir this together. Then add all the dry ingredients and knead well for 10-15 minutes at low speed. Finally, add the room temperature butter in cubes and let the dough knead for 5-10 minutes until you get a soft and smooth dough and until you see that all the butter is evenly distributed in the dough. Raise to double size.
- While you wait for the dough to rise, mince the garlic and parsley and combine with room temperature butter. Add salt and pepper at the end. If you have an immersion blender, you can mix the butter in no time.
- Transfer the dough to a baking table. Then divide it into four parts again and start by rolling one part round and flat like a pizza base. Then place it on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Then spread on a thin layer of garlic butter. Leave a cm or two around the edge, do not spread the filling completely.
- You continue in this way with the other three pieces of dough as well, until you have four layers on top of each other. Do not spread garlic butter on the top layer.
- Use the lid for the cheese and place it in the center of the loaf, it should not be split here. Then first divide into four parts, towards the lid of the cheese. Then divide each quarter into four again, so you are left with 16 parts in the end. It will look like 16 pieces of cake around the cheese lid. Twist two and two parts either towards each other or apart. You choose that yourself. They should be twisted two or three times around.
- Then pinch two and two of the ends together at the bottom to form a star tip. Do this all the way around until you have made a star. Now the star must be raised for a short hour in a warm place. Brush with a beaten egg.
- When the star has risen, you can remove all the plastic on the outside of the cheese and place it in the center of the star. Bake the star and the cheese in a preheated oven at 200 degrees, for about 20 minutes, until it is golden and cooked through.
- Garnish with rosemary, figs or other dried fruit.
