Pasta bolognese is a sure dinner winner at our house, and the kids love this dish. NB: If you are going to make the weekly menu of which this dish is a part, you must use the meat sauce for two other dishes. If not, you can store it in the fridge for 3-4 days and use it for other dishes, or freeze it for later. 1 portion of meat sauce corresponds to about 3 dinners.
Ingredients
- 2 clove garlic
- 1 x yellow onion
- 2 x carrot
- 400 g minced meat
- 1 dl red wine
- 2 pack canned tomatoes
- 100 g dried pasta
- 2 handful shredded parmesan
- 1 handful fresh basil
Method
- Mince the garlic and onion, and dice the carrot into small pieces.
- Use a saucepan with a thick bottom. Fry to soften the garlic and onion in a little olive oil.
- Add the diced carrot and fry for about a minute more.
- Add minced meat and fry until done.
- Add red wine and bring to a boil. You can replace red wine with dry white wine, beer or cider actually, depending on what flavor you want. You can also skip this step.
- Add chopped tomatoes and spices of your choice. Season with salt and pepper. Let it simmer for 10 minutes.
- Prepare the pasta as directed on the package.
- When the pasta is soon to be done, add grated parmesan and fresh basil to the meat sauce. Stir and bring to a boil.
- If you follow the weekly menu this dish is part of, you must divide the meat sauce into 3 parts. One part is for now, and let the other two part cool completely before placing them in the fridge.
- Mix together pasta and meat sauce, top with a little more parmesan and fresh basil before serving.
