Easy Pasta Bolognese

Pasta bolognese is a sure dinner winner at our house, and the kids love this dish. NB: If you are going to make the weekly menu of which this dish is a part, you must use the meat sauce for two other dishes. If not, you can store it in the fridge for 3-4 days and use it for other dishes, or freeze it for later. 1 portion of meat sauce corresponds to about 3 dinners.

Ingredients

  • 2 clove garlic
  • 1 x yellow onion
  • 2 x carrot
  • 400 g minced meat
  • 1 dl red wine
  • 2 pack canned tomatoes
  • 100 g dried pasta
  • 2 handful shredded parmesan
  • 1 handful fresh basil

Method

  1. Mince the garlic and onion, and dice the carrot into small pieces.
  2. Use a saucepan with a thick bottom. Fry to soften the garlic and onion in a little olive oil.
  3. Add the diced carrot and fry for about a minute more.
  4. Add minced meat and fry until done.
  5. Add red wine and bring to a boil. You can replace red wine with dry white wine, beer or cider actually, depending on what flavor you want. You can also skip this step.
  6. Add chopped tomatoes and spices of your choice. Season with salt and pepper. Let it simmer for 10 minutes.
  7. Prepare the pasta as directed on the package.
  8. When the pasta is soon to be done, add grated parmesan and fresh basil to the meat sauce. Stir and bring to a boil.
  9. If you follow the weekly menu this dish is part of, you must divide the meat sauce into 3 parts. One part is for now, and let the other two part cool completely before placing them in the fridge.
  10. Mix together pasta and meat sauce, top with a little more parmesan and fresh basil before serving.
