Ready in just 30 minutes, this homemade mashed potato recipe is both simple to make and unbelievably delicious! One serving needs approximately 600g of potato/3 medium-sized potatoes. Consider using red pimpernel, although feel free to experiment with different varieties.
Ingredients
- 600 g potatoes
- 1 ½ dl cream
- 1 tbsp butter
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 pinch black pepper
Method
- Peel and dice the potatoes.
- Place the potatoes in a pot of water. Add a few sprinkles of salt and bring to a boil. When you can pierce a fork into the potato without resistance, it is done. This should take about 10 minutes.
- Drain the water from the potatoes, then add the cream and butter. Mash everything together with a fork or a potato masher. Season with salt and pepper.
- You can create various delicious versions of mashed potatoes using this recipe as a base. Feel free to experiment with different spices, make the mashed potatoes vegan by using plant-based milk and butter, or enhance the dish with parmesan for more umami. You can also add carrots to vary the flavor. Cut the carrots into smaller pieces than the potatoes to achieve a similar cooking time.
