Taste the word – gahkko. It is a traditional Sami bread and gahkko are small breads that are fried in a pan. They are made from rye and wheat and are just as good for dinner as for tour food. 1 serving makes 12 small loaves.

- 3 ½ dl whole milk
- ½ pack yeast
- ½ dl neutral oil
- 1 ½ tbsp light syrup
- 100 g rye flour
- 400 g plain white flour

- Put rye flour and wheat flour in a baking bowl.
- Dissolve the yeast in the tepid milk. Ad oil.
- Pour the syrup and the milk mixture into the flour and stir vigorously until the dough releases from the baking bowl.
- Cover the bowl with a cloth and let the dough rise for 30 minutes.
- Put the dough out on the table. Divide the dough into 12 equal items.
- Roll each item into a ball. Then press it flat into a round cake - about 1/2 cm thick.
- Place the items on a baking tray and puncture the surface with a fork.
- Fry the bread golden on both sides in a dry frying pan over medium heat.
