My Moms Best Macaroni Gratin

I childhood dish for sure, and now this is served in my family every month as an everyday family dinner. So easy to make.

Ingredients

  • 400 g macaroni
  • 4 x eggs
  • 1 dl cream
  • 4 x hot dogs
  • 200 g grated cheese
  • 2 pinch black pepper
  • 4 x potatoes

Method

  1. Boil plenty of water and add some salt. Boil macaroni Al dente.
  2. To a large bowl combine egg, cream, diced hotdogs and half of the grated cheese. Add black pepper and mix well.
  3. If you want, you can add some vegetables to the gratin. My mother loved leek but my personal favorite is cauliflower. Dice it and toss it to the bowl of ingredients.
  4. Toss the water from the macaroni and add the macaroni to the bowl. Combine everything. Add it all to an ovenproof pan, topp with cheese and bake for 30–40 minutes at 200 degrees Celsius.
  5. Boil potatoes until tender in salted water. If you dice the potatoes, you will shorten the cooking time.
  6. Serve with ketchup and dairy butter.
